Remembering Your Progress: Staying Grounded on Your Journey
As the pace of life and work accelerates, we might overlook how far we’ve already come. We might lose sight of the growth, the resilience, and the quiet victories.
Not everyone will understand your journey, and that’s okay. The milestones that means the most often happen beneath the surface, the moments when you choose courage over comfort or faith over fear. Those turning points may not seem huge, however, they are proof of progress.
“Not too many people could walk a mile in your shoes. Only you know your struggles, challenges and obstacles; so be proud of how far you have come.” ~Edmond Mbiaka
In leadership and in life, perspective allows us to step back and see the fuller picture. The entirety of what we are striving toward, along with what we’ve already built, learned, and overcome. Remembering your progress helps you lead in all areas of your life and grounds you with confidence.
When discouragement seeps in, anchor yourself with the fact that you’ve been through difficult seasons before, and you’ve found a way through. That awareness can help in fueling resilience and restoring momentum.
Here a few questions you can ask yourself this week:
What challenges have I already overcome that once felt impossible?
What lessons or strengths have I gained through experience?
Who or what has supported me along the way?
You might be surprised by what surfaces when you pause long enough to look back with gratitude and appreciation. You don’t have to have a major practice to help you stay grounded, small reminders can be powerful touchpoints.
Progress is not always loud, but it is still happening. It is built one decision, one action, one step at a time. And each step that you have already taken has equipped you for what’s ahead.
✨ This week’s challenge: What will you put in place to remind yourself of how far you’ve come? Choose one small practice, a note on your desk or a calendar reminder, to celebrate progress and stay grounded in your “why.”
