Early 2015 Business + Life Lessons
As I build my coaching and consulting business, I have had plenty eye openers, reminders and push me out of my comfort zone experiences. I wanted to share a few lessons from my early 2015 business + personal development journey. I hope you can take a thing or two from this blog post and add to your toolkit, whether you are looking to advance in your career or move your entrepreneurial endeavor forward.
1. Big ideas and planning are great, however, you have to push past fear and act. No matter how great your ideas and plans, if you are not implementing them, they will remain ideas and plan. To see results, you have to shift the ideas and plans into action.
2. You have to put yourself out there. If you want to move from where you are to where you want to be, you cannot be the best kept secret. You have to stretch beyond your comfort zone and articulate the value that you bring to the table. No one will know your talents and strengths unless you share them.
3. You can do a lot, but not all at the same time. You know the value of focusing, but distractions can sneak in. It is easier when you zone in than when you are all over the place. You cause confusion for yourself as well as others, stay focused.
4. Be kind to yourself. You did all the research and due diligence before making a career/business decision. You make the decision and later learn you missed something and there are additional costs. At first you may experience a lot of emotions, navigate the feelings, but don't dwell there. Learn what you can from the experience and add to you development toolkit. There is no benefit in dwelling on the past or beating yourself up over what happened. Recognize that making mistakes are a part of the journey and you will survive.
5. Confidence over fear. Know that you are capable. It's easy to want to compare where you are on the journey with the success of others. You may experience intimidation, get nervous or anxious or even feel like you are not moving. Shift your mindset and focus on what you have accomplished thus far in your career or entrepreneurial endeavor. Things won't be easy, but know that you are using your unique talents and strengths to build YOUR legacy.Wishing you much success on your journey!
