It's Been a Long Time Coming

Welcome!

This blog is a platform where I will share my thoughts, experiences, offer advice and provide thought-provoking information on career/professional development and personal growth. My hope is that the content will inspire you to begin/continue to take action to create personal and professional assets. As this is my first post, I wanted to provide you with some information about my career journey.

My career story

Have you ever had the experience where things didn’t quite work out as planned? When I graduated with my BA in Psychology, things did not turn out as planned and after searching for months, I secured a position. The position was not quite psychology related but I looked at it as a good start in the world of work. I did some introspective work to figure out my next steps and decided to continue my education. My career has been quite a journey, my background includes a diverse blend of experience in for-profit and non-profit sectors in coaching, counseling, consulting and training and development. I have experienced ups and downs and learned many lessons from the school of life. One of the greatest – you have to take control of your career and move forward with confidence to make things happen. Nothing is promised– to achieve your desired level of success you have to be willing to put in the work, and be open to taking a different route to get to your destination.

My leap of faith – Wilson Rose Solutions

Earlier this year, I launched Wilson Rose Solutions, a boutique professional development and consulting business. It’s been a long time coming. Through career coaching, consulting and signature workshops and seminars, I work with individuals, groups and organizations to develop and apply a focused approach to achieving career, personal and business goals.

A bit more information about me

My spiritual foundation has been and continues to be my greatest asset and gets me through the rough times. I am a lover of all things growth and development – your development is for you, something that no one can take. In August 2012, with the support of family members and friends, I organized and sponsored a Girls Empowerment Day in Grove Town, Jamaica (West Indies) – the community where I spent the first 11 years of my life. It was a wonderful experience and truly brought home the meaning of giving. Some of my hobbies: reading, writing and most recently photography – although at this point, I take pictures just for fun. I enjoy the outdoors (when it’s not snowing) and find it to be a great way to relax. Although I live in New York, I am not a fan of snow – it could be related to me being a child of the sun, or at least that’s what I have been telling myself. I hope you enjoy the content of my blog!
