Getting Back on Track

In August, my family celebrated the 100th birthday of my paternal grandmother in Jamaica. It was truly wonderful to be surrounded by family and friends in this momentous celebration. This time also served as a soul-cation for me, it was a chance to relax, rejuvenate and have fun. Life has a way of throwing learning opportunities into the best laid plans. Being with the family was really fun coupled with a few exasperating moments, more than once I had to remind myself to accept people for who they are, no matter how much I want for them. My soul-cation also served as a growth and development opportunity, I had to deal with my own 'stuff and expectations' so that I could focus on the important things and truly relax and rejuvenate.

During my time away, I also had a chance to reflex on the different areas of my life and where attention was needed. There were areas in which I had allowed distractions to creep in, it was time to regain focus and shift from many of the excuses I was telling myself and start taking steps to get back on track. Getting back on my journey to create wellness in all areas of my life, live life boldly and authentically and take time to “smell the roses.” My grandmother’s birthday served as the catalyst to get back to the basics and sift through the noise or excuses in my case, so that I can get to and enjoy the important people and things in my life.I had a wonderful time in Jamaica, and the time served as a checkup, allowing me to get back on track. Sometimes we are so busy that we can get loss in the ‘busyness.’ I highly recommend taking time out of your busy schedule to check in with your life, see where things are going well and where adjustments are needed. Taking time to connect or reconnect and get back on track.
